GENERAL DUTIES
I.T. Associates perform moderately complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Associates work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving complex technology problems and serving as a technical resource. They have considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may have supervisory responsibilities.
I.T. Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure, the Network Engineer will design, configure, and implement networks. The engineer will support wired & wireless LAN, Firewalls, VPN and IP telephony technologies and serve as a networking resource for the department. The individuals will also be responsible for supporting network security efforts.
The ideal candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Extensive knowledge and experience working on an expansive production network
Strong knowledge of designing, installing, upgrading, and configuring Cisco switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless network devices
Knowledge of VOIP and Video technologies
General knowledge of stateful firewalls, ideally CISCO ASA and Palo Alto firewalls
Experience troubleshooting networking issues related to switching, routing, Firewalls, VPNs
Experience supporting a Cisco wireless LAN, L2 trunking, port-channels, EIGRP both on the IOS and Nexus platforms
Experience with Network Management platforms such as Cisco ACS
Demonstrated experience utilizing troubleshooting networking issues using tools such as Wireshark
Knowledge of IP subnetting, TCP/IP, UDP and protocols/applications such as ICMP, FTP, SSH, HTTP, NFS, iSCSI
Be able to explain the various components of the OSI model
Understanding of cabling and cabling limitations
Ability to create documentation in MS Visio, MS Word, and MS Excel

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
COMPENSATION
$79,677
