GENERAL DUTIES

IT Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology. They perform development/programming, communications, technical support, and similar functions in their areas of expertise. Work may include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving problems in highly complex projects.

IT Senior Associates have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group. They demonstrate mastery of technology-related discipline(s) and decision-making ability in area(s) of expertise. They serve as a resource and contribute to policies and technical standards.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Department of Information Technology is seekinga detail-oriented full stack web developer with solid experience developing and designing web applications. The candidate mustbe proficient in PHP, Python or Node.js as well as JavaScript.

The candidate will demonstrate strong skills in:

  • Developing application solutions in modern back-end and front-end technologies and frameworks.

  • Designing websites and interfaces using modern UX/UI technologies and front-end responsive frameworks.

  • Modeling databases in SQLas well as being able to write DB code without an ORM.

  • Supporting legacy applications, working closely with end users to troubleshoot bugs, implementing new features and refactoring.

  • Working both independently and in teams.

  • Adapting quickly to new web and application trends.

  • Written and oral communication.

Reporting to the Application Development Manager, the candidate will be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Until further notice this position will be hybrid; remote and in office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

  2. An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position

  3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency

  4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of web development experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in PHP, Python or Node.js.

  • 3+ years of experience in JavaScript or Typescript.

  • 3+ years of experience in SQL development.

  • Experience in GIT.

  • Experience in CSS and CSS preprocessors (Sass or Less).

  • Experience in software design and the Software Development Life Cycle.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Laravel is a plus.

  • Experience with Vue.js or React.

  • Experience with Drupal.

  • Experience with Docker.

  • Basic working knowledge of Adobe XD and Adobe Photoshop or any website prototyping and image editing tools.

COMPENSATION

For Level 1: $91,298

Part-time employees must meet a weekly or semester work hour criteria to be eligible for health benefits. Health benefits are also extended to retirees who meet the eligibility criteria.
