GENERAL DUTIES

IT Senior Associates perform highly complex professional work in technology. They perform development/programming, communications, technical support, and similar functions in their areas of expertise. Work may include diagnosing, evaluating, overseeing and resolving problems in highly complex projects.

IT Senior Associates have wide latitude for independent initiative and judgment, and may serve in lead roles on complex programs or projects and/or serve as a direct supervisor of a unit or group. They demonstrate mastery of technology-related discipline(s) and decision-making ability in area(s) of expertise. They serve as a resource and contribute to policies and technical standards.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Office of Computing and Information Services (CIS) at the City University of New York (CUNY) supports and coordinates CUNY’s IT and telecommunications needs across all of its colleges and administrative units.

We are seeking a Lead Cloud Messaging Engineer to provide enterprise cloud-based email and collaboration management and resolution to students, faculty and staff University-wide. This person will be the primary manager/engineer for the hosted Microsoft Office 365 Collaboration Suite and related applications.

We are seeking a contributor who can demonstrate strong skills in:

-Designing, implementing and operating Microsoft Azure and Office 365 cloud technology solutions

-Creating and maintaining MS Office 365 cloud Standard Operating Procedures, baseline build guides, run books, infrastructure diagrams, and process automation scripts

-Migration of on premise Microsoft Exchange to MS Office 365

-Working with multiple teams, vendors, and users to analyze and resolve complex technical issues

-Working with technical staff and end-users to evaluate and upgrade services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent

  2. An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position

  3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency

  4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.

This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in the following Microsoft technologies:

-Exchange 2010/2013/2016

-Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, AAD Synchronization, Single Signon, MFA and Conditional Access

-Exchange Online / Exchange Online Protection

-Intune

-SharePointOnline

-OneDrive for Business

-Microsoft Teams

-PowerShell (or similar) scripting and automation

Candidates should have a good understanding of Identity Management concepts, a knowledge of regulatory standards, strong problem-solving skills, and management capabilities (organizing work, coordinating teams, mentoring, knowledge sharing).

COMPENSATION

Level 1: $91,298

Level 2: $99,599

Level 3: $109,560

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after July 1, 2019

City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after July 1, 2019 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period.

An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
