CUNY Lecturer - Corporate Communication in New York, New York


The Department of Communication Studies at Baruch College invites applications for a lecturer position beginning in August of 2018. The ideal candidate will have a specialization in corporate communication and be able to teach undergraduate and Master's level courses in organizational and managerial communication, executive communication, public relations, business writing, and other areas commensurate with his or her particular expertise. The ideal candidate will also have the ability to direct theses and capstone projects in the department's Master's program in Corporate Communication, and to enhance the department's ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Because this position is offered at the Lecturer level it is subject to annual review for five years. Reviews focus primarily on the quality of the instructor's teaching. After the fifth consecutive successful annual review the lecturer is granted a Certificate of Continuous Employment which affords him or her permanent employment at the college without the requirement of further review.

Baruch College, located in the historic Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan, is a senior college in the City University of New York, with roughly 15,000 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students enrolled in three schools: the Lawrence Zicklin School of Business; the Mildred and George Weissman School of Arts and Sciences; and the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. The Department of Communication Studies, located in the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, offers the basic public speaking course (required of almost all undergraduates in the College), as well as two undergraduate majors: one in Corporate Communication, which is the fourth largest major in the college; and one in Communication Studies, which is now four years old and is currently the fastest growing major in the college. The Department also offers an undergraduate minor in Communication Studies, which is one of the largest minors in the College. In addition to its undergraduate offerings, the Department also offers a Master's degree in Corporate Communication, with an enrollment of approximately sixty students.


B.A. in communication studies or a related field is required for this position; M.A. or Ph.D. in communication studies or a related field is preferred.
