FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Computer Science ( http://www.hunter.cuny.edu/csci ) at Hunter College of The City University of New York invites applications for multiple positions at the rank of Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule) to start at the beginning of the Fall 2023 semester. This is a full-time appointment with a renewable contract and eligibility for a Certificate of Continuous Service.
Located on the 68th Street campus on the upper east side of Manhattan, the diverse faculty of the Computer Science Department at Hunter works closely with students and each other in an open and collegial atmosphere. The Department is committed to building a diverse faculty and welcomes applications from women and underrepresented minorities. Hunter has both a teaching and a research mission. The responsibilities associated with this position fall within the purview of its teaching mission.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach, design curricula, and oversee adjuncts and undergraduate teaching assistants in lectures with 200+ students that make up the pedagogy for the core undergraduate computer science curriculum as well as share responsibility for committee and other departmental assignments. The Department has a computer science master’s program and a Computer Science K-12 Education Program jointly with Hunter’s School of Education. Applications that demonstrate the ability to teach courses at the master’s level are encouraged.

QUALIFICATIONS
A Ph.D. degree either in hand, or expected in or before Summer 2023 is required. The degree needs to be in Computer Science or a related field Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
In addition, to the candidate’s submitted materials, the candidate’s ability to teach will be assessed by having the final candidates give a lecture in one of our core, large lecture courses.
Preferred candidates will have a demonstrable strength in computation as exhibited by graduate-level coursework, work experience, or in research articles which may include the candidate’s Ph.D. thesis. They will also demonstrate the ability to be able to work collaboratively and contribute to departmental strengths in teaching, and be able to lead efforts to broaden participation in computing both across disciplines, including, but not limited to, communications, film and media, economics, geographical sciences, and the lab sciences, and to diverse populations across the campus.
VACCINE REQUIREMENT
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with education and experience.($56,821-$98,309)
