FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The German Department at Hunter College invites applications for a position at the rank of Lecturer (Doctoral Schedule) beginning August 2022. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in German language, literature and culture, both in the target language and in English translation. The candidate is expected to perform primarily teaching and related faculty functions such as advising students, developing technology-enhanced curriculum and curricular materials, and contributing to faculty development in the department. The position has no research requirement but entails service components related to program building, language placement, internships, study abroad, and assessment of learning outcomes. Experience with such matters preferred. Focus on second language teaching preferred. Other service may include committee participation both within the department and across campus.

Doctoral degree in German language and literature, Germanic Studies, or a closely related field. Fluency in German.
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
