FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Natural Sciences, Baruch College CUNY, seeks to fill a Lecturer position in biology. The successful candidate will have responsibilities in four areas: 1) prepare curriculum materials for and teach introductory biology, teach occasional advanced courses as needed; 2) meet with prospective science majors and minors for initial advisement and selection of faculty mentors; 3) collaborate with the Chair and Deputy Chairs to prepare course schedules for future semesters; 4) together with a technician, manage the confocal microscope and train new users. Hours will be apportioned among categories each semester, depending on departmental need. This position is eligible for a Certificate of Continuing Employment after 5 consecutive years of employment.
The Department of Natural Sciences offers general education courses for non-majors as well as a Biological Sciences Major (about 100 undergraduates) and minors in Chemistry, Environmental Sustainability, and Physics. Baruch College is in the vibrant Gramercy Park District of New York City. It is easily reached from the other boroughs of the City and New Jersey by car and public transportation. Its buildings include the 1929 Field Building and the modern Newman Vertical Campus completed in 2001. Baccalaureate degree with major in biology from an accredited institution, ability to teach successfully and perform administrative and technology duties. Teaching experience in higher education is preferred.
