FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Hunter College invites applications for a Lecturer/Doctoral Lecturer position in statistics beginning fall 2023. The Department is seeking an individual with an advanced degree in statistics who can teach a wide range of courses at both the foundational level as well as the advanced undergraduate and masters levels. In addition to teaching, the position calls for advising and working with individual students in Independent Study.
The Lecturer/Doctoral Lecturer position is eligible for a Certificate of Continuing Employment after five years. Although the position has no requirement of research publications, the successful candidate is expected to demonstrate interests outside of teaching responsibilities such as advising/running a student statistics club, coordinating/running a statistics seminar, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualification is a Bachelor's degree, Master’s degree in statistics for the Lecturer position preferred and the required qualification is a Ph.D. in statistics for the Doctoral Lecturer position. Candidates must show evidence of successful teaching. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach large classes.
VACCINE REQUIREMENT
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
COMPENSATION
Salary commensurate with education and experience; Lecturer: $52,072- $87,004; Doc. Lecturer:$56,821 - $88,998.
