POSITION DETAILS
The CUNY School of Labor and Urban Studies (SLU) offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs in Labor Studies and Urban Studies that are designed to meet the needs of working adults as well as traditional-age college students who seek to learn more about the challenges confronting poor and working-class populations in the workplace and in the community. It also collaborates with other units of CUNY to offer a range of college-credit programs designed to give workers the academic and technical skills they need for professional advancement. Its faculty includes distinguished scholars in the social sciences as well as expert practitioners in government, labor, and public service.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Manager of IT Academic Technology provides leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining high-quality technology integration in all teaching and learning settings. The successful candidate will lead projects to support faculty in enhancing instruction, collaborate on strategies that utilize technology to improve student learning, and strive to support students as they become technologically competent.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview below, primary duties include but are not limited to:
Create, maintain, and oversee the integration of technology planning in collaboration with an academic technology committee.
Provide daily strategy and support to faculty, staff, and students for technology integration to enhance classroom learning; troubleshoot to identify issues and initiate timely solutions
Deploy technology hardware and/or software applications via in-person and virtual assistance for students, faculty, staff, and guests
Provide assistance and training to instructional staff in the integration of technology to support student learning, including planning and implementing job-embedded professional development opportunities
Create and maintain easy-to-follow documentation for distribution for staff members; create learning resources for faculty and staff
Network with vendors of educational software and hardware. Manage the selection, implementation, and support of complex instructional technology solutions and evaluate software licensing agreements
Participate in ongoing professional development related to job responsibilities to maintain expertise in the field
Advocate for and instruct faculty and staff in vetting and responsible use of technology; lead efforts to teach students digital citizenship
Work with School leadership to foster a culture of learning innovation
Participate in university-wide committees on related matters
NOTE:
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.
PREFERRED
Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in a related field
Experience with educational technology tools and platforms; strong knowledge with academic computing, applications, and databases preferred
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems
Excellent organizational, time management skills, and strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work independently, and meet deadlines
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal and presentation skills
Effective leadership skills, especially a positive attitude towards change with the willingness to learn new skills and proactively seek opportunities to better the position, department, and student-serving institution

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Manages a range of academic technologies to support College instructional goals.
Manages and supports the operations of University-wide and College-specific instructional technologies, multimedia centers, and/or research units
Assures successful adaptation of new academic systems within the existing College environment
Communicates regularly and proactively with the academic systems user community concerning technology needs, new projects, and policies
Recommends and acquires technology upgrades and improvements
Serves as project manager for the introduction of new technology and equipment
Manages day-to-day operations, overseeing assigned staff
Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Annual salary between $67,784 - $82,928, commensurate with credentials, education and experience.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022
City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the Emblem Health HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.
After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period. If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day. Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period.
An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to Emblem Health. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by Emblem Health before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the Emblem Health website.
