GENERAL DUTIES
Under supervision, performs miscellaneous clerical, administrative, research or other work related to the operation of a College or other unit where such work is required on a part-time basis or for a period of limited duration.
There is one Assignment Level for this position. All personnel perform related work. This specification describes typical assignments; related duties may be assigned as
needed.
Maximum tenure for any employee in this hourly position is 1040 hours per year.
Performs routine clerical work; may answer and attend to telephone calls; maintain records,
operate office machines (such as copier), sort and distribute mail, issue keys and identity cards,
act as messenger, and perform related tasks as required.
Types letters, memoranda, charts, and similar materials.
Acts as cashier.
Assists in statistical or research activities. May collect and compile data, code data for computer entry, perform data entry, and run computer reports.
Performs clerical library work, such as sorting and shelving books, performing data entry into library systems, or binding books and periodicals.
Assists in instructional programs, including tutoring and assisting students in areas such as reading and mathematics. May assist in speech and hearing therapy, provide musical accompaniment, and/or distribute and collect physical education equipment.
Enters and maintains departmental records such as inventory control records, rosters, directories, and schedules.
May operate computers, computer software, and other electronic equipment in performing assigned tasks.

POSITION OVERVIEW
On behalf of the CUNY colleges and schools, the CUNY Office of Research has collaborated with the Research Foundation of CUNY to procure Cayuse, an Electronic Research Administration (eRA) system designed to grow and safeguard CUNY research. A part-time staff person at John Jay College will aid the sponsored programs and research compliance staff with file conversion, data migration, and data input, and will be responsible for getting the John Jay College Office for the Advancement of Research ready for implementation of Cayuse. The Research and Implementation Assistant will support the Office for the Advancement of Research (OAR) in preparing its current MS Access database of grants and contracts proposal submissions for migration and implementation of a new Electronic Research Administration (eRA) system called Cayuse.
This is a part time position. Reporting to the Director of Sponsored Programs, the employee will be responsible for the following duties for implementation readiness:
Database review and clean-up – Review of current database records, error checks, cross-referencing data with files to ensure all fields are accurate and complete, and populating missing data in the current MS Access Database.
File Conversion - Any current grant-related paper files (award letters, progress and financial approval emails, etc.) that will need to be converted to electronic format and stored electronically; attaching electronic documents to the relevant record.
Data Migration - Preparing and reformatting all data in electronic format and storing that data in a single repository (i.e. Access). Completing eRA-supplied templates that will need to be completed for bulk-loading into the eRA system.
Data Input - Data that cannot be uploaded by the Cayuse implementation team directly will require manual entry into the Cayuse system prior to the “Go Live” date.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must demonstrate sufficient skills to perform the duties of the assigned tasks.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
At least 1 year of database experience or related coursework (Microsoft Access preferred).
Some quality assurance and quality control experience preferred.
Detail-oriented.
Self-starter and able to work independently.
Eagerness to support the research enterprise.
COMPENSATION
This is a part-time position of up to 20 hours per week, scheduling of the days can be worked out.
Hourly rate is $18 - $25.51 per hour commensurate with experience. Appointment is on a per semester basis and subject to budgetary and renewal approval.
