CUNY Senior College Laboratory Technician (School of Nursing) in New York, New York
Performs supervisory and/or complex technical functions in laboratories in support of coursework.
Maintains, fabricates, modifies, and repairs equipment
Determines equipment requirements, prepares purchase specifications and coordinates acquisitions
Trains and supervises College Laboratory Technicians, College Assistants, and other laboratory staff
Manages set up, maintenance, and organization of student laboratories
Maintains safety and hygiene standards
Documents laboratory activities
Performs related duties as assigned.
Senior College Laboratory Technician
CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
This position reports to the Dean of the Hunter College School of Nursing.
In addition to the General Duties, responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Provide instructional support in the skills lab for students and faculty to improve competencies and skills in meeting course objectives.
Conduct nursing lab skills demonstrations as requested by course faculty.
Assess student nurse competency in lab skills as requested by course faculty.
Coordinate remediation of nursing lab skills for students when requested by faculty.
Collaborates with nursing course leaders regarding nursing student competency activity in nursing skills laboratory.
Coordinates equipment in-services as necessary.
Participates in development, implementation and evaluation for lab instructional activities.
High School Diploma with a minimum of eight years' related experience. Additional education may be used to meet the experience requirement: an Associate's degree may be substituted for two years' experience and a Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four years' experience. This position may also require the ability to supervise others.
Preferred Qualifications RN license
Commensurate with experience.
