As the Student Career Program Manager, you will play a leading role in fulfilling SPH's commitment to student and alumni career development and experiential learning. The Student Career Program Manager will work with the Academic Program Director and other members of the Office of Career Services, Experiential Learning and Alumni Relations to support career development and experiential learning activities at CUNY SPH.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include but are not limited to:
Advising students and alumni both in person and remotely on career development and experiential learning.
Managing various aspects of office operations, including front-line communication with students, alumni, faculty, employers and staff; managing the office inbox and answering the phone; maintaining webpages, event calendars, and databases; distributing emails and newsletters; and managing internal process documentation and invoices.
Maintaining accurate and detailed records of student activities.
Managing employer relations with an aim of expanding and diversifying CUNY SPH’s employer network; manage the employer and experiential learning site database.
Recruiting and cultivating relationships with members of the Alumni Network.
Liaising with the leadership of the Alumni Network to plan and co-host events and activities, including with current student leaders and faculty.
Assisting and participating in College-wide and CUNY-wide activities.
Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required. Of the six years of experience, two years of experience in student services.
The ideal candidate should have:
Experience in public health, policy, public administration or related field preferred.
Knowledge of student programming and advising, career or experiential learning experience preferred.
Experience with employer relations and outcome assessment preferred.
Familiarity with implementing new technologies.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal/ written communication and presentation skills.
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a track-record of project follow-through.
Understanding of the needs and challenges facing students from diverse backgrounds.
Experience with CUNYFirst (PeopleSoft) preferred.
Ability to work evening hours as needed.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Develops and manages career development programs and services in a College of Unit and assumes a leadership role in the design and delivery of creative approaches to career education and planning.
Assists in unit planning, such as setting goals and objectives, and monitors status of progress toward meeting goals
Designs and produces outcomes assessment reports; reviews outcomes and feedback and recommends strategies to expand and improve services.
Directs a portfolio of targeted career programs, such as mentoring, internship, and alumni programs
Manages one or more aspects of career office operations, such as on-campus recruiting
Evaluates new technologies, assessment materials, and other career tools, makes recommendations, and acquires/implements them
May counsel a limited number of students
Performs related duties as assigned.
