CUNY Student Financials Support Analyst (Finance Coordinator) in New York, New York

POSITION DETAILS

The Student Financials Support Analyst will work closely with the Colleges’ Bursars; the University Treasury Office and the University Budget Office.

Under supervision, the Student Financials Support Analyst will provide production support for Campus Solution – Student Financials system by supporting and assisting with programming and testing solutions to complex production problems, and works to retrofit customization for Upgrades and Maintenance. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate skills in requirements gathering and writing detailed design documents.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the specific responsibilities of the Student Financials Support Specialist are the following:

  • Advise and assist users regarding application requirements, needs and solutions.

  • Upgrade and implement system enhancements.

  • Assist in coding and testing system modifications.

  • Identify and analyze data integrity and performance problems.

  • Prepare detailed processing specifications.

  • Provide ongoing support for Student Financial module.

  • Research and recommend solutions to improve security and performance.

  • Support ongoing implementations and upgrades.

  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies:

  • Preferred degree in Computer Science or Business with nine credit hours in programming.

  • One year related Public college/university work experience.

  • Thorough knowledge of PC based web browsers and MS Office programs (Excel, Word and others).

  • Working knowledge of Oracle, PL/SQL, PeopleCode, full suite of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions technology and PeopleSoft Certifications.

  • Knowledge of application development life-cycle and best practices.

  • Knowledge in programming languages.

  • Strong problem solving, analytical, interpersonal, customer service, multi-tasking, and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved.

  • Ability to work independently and carry out complex assignments.

Performs financial analysis and administrative work related to College or unit accounting.

  • Prepares, reconciles and distributes expenditure and related accounting reports

  • Creates and maintains various spreadsheets related to financial analysis

  • Processes and tracks transactional entries

  • Provides support in the administration of various business operations

  • Coordinates with various departments on accounting matters

  • Monitors systems and operations to assure a smooth workflow

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
