The Graduate Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator will be a member of the Office of Graduate Studies, which is a division of CUNY’s Office of Admissions Services. The Office of Graduate Studies is the information hub for prospective students interested in Master’s and Doctoral programs offered at 15 of CUNY’s colleges. The Office of Graduate Studies, in collaboration with the CUNY colleges, designs and manages University-wide strategies, priorities, and policies pertaining to student enrollment andrecruitment.

To support the University's goals for strategic enrollment management and student success from acceptance through graduation, the Office of Graduate Studies seeks a Graduate Recruitment and Outreach Coordinator to focus on enrollment management activities required to engage, recruit, and yield graduate students. The successful candidate will perform administrative functions necessary to accomplish graduate student enrollment goals, including managing timely communications with prospective and admitted students, facilitating targeted events (both virtual and in-person) for prospective students, and researching and analyzing trends that impact graduate enrollment.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Graduate Enrollment, key functions include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with everyday office operations, manage the intake and responses of the very active department main phone line and email account, and organize and maintain files and records as directed.

  • Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with feeder institutions and professional schools; update databases, lists and files of the Office’s contacts for efficient outreach activities

  • Research and identify target markets and recruiting venues, analyze trends and assess effectiveness of recruitment events.

  • Interact with other student service departments and graduate admissions offices within the CUNY community to ensure that the needs of prospective students are met.

  • Represent the university at local, regional, and national graduate recruitment events such as information sessions and open houses.

  • Undertakes various projects and assists with other related tasks as directed.


Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work on-site in the office. All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to the tri-state area.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.


Bachelor's degree required.

Other Qualifications

  • Professional experience working in a customer-service capacity, preferably in higher education and/or in recruitment and admissions.

  • Prior experience with or a willingness to learn student information systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools, and database maintenance.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with prospective students, faculty and the general public.

  • Must be able to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive work environment.

  • Must have reliable transportation throughout the tri-state area for recruitment events.

  • Flexible schedule with ability to adjust working hours including day, evening and possible overnight travel during peak recruitment season.


Supports University-wide student enrollment and admissions activities.

  • Provides direct student services and works collaboratively with University and College-based offices to support admissions, enrollment, registration, payment, and related activities

  • Conducts workshops on enrollment and admissions services and processes

  • Counsels students, staff and faculty on academic registration, admissions, testing, and related processing

  • Manages student information databases and resolves issues with student records and transactions

  • Ensures compliance with University, Federal, and New York State regulations and policies

  • Creates and updates content for the web pages, bulletins, and other media to ensure effective communications to students and the University community

  • May supervise clerical and/or part-time staff and coordinate work schedules

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
