POSITION DETAILS

Home to the first—and only—MSW program in Queens, New York, the Department of Social Work at York College/CUNY invites applications for a full-time Academic Program Specialist.

Reporting to the MSW Director, participates in the daily coordination of academic and administrative activities of the MSW Program. The successful candidate will maintain and assist with managing CORE System, collect data, perform analysis, and write reports in relation to student and office support, etc. (e.g. student GPAs, encumbrances and vouchers in budget reports, etc.).

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, additional work tasks will include, but not be limited to:

• Assist MSW Director with office assessments, including the organizing of observations of faculty

• Provide clear communications on the MSW Director’s behalf both within and outside the department

• Conduct on-campus virtual, in-person, and off- campus information sessions to recruit potential applicants at various recruitment events

• Assist with accreditation-related assignments

• Maintain social media interfacing and current information on website, manuals, and other materials

• Plan/ promote events for the MSW Program, such as Field Supervisors’ Breakfast, Phi Alpha Honor Society ceremony, and MSW Program commencement

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.

In addition to the qualifications above, the following qualifications are strongly preferred:

--MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program

--Work experience with a CSWE-accredited MSW program

--Knowledge of NASW Code of Ethics and CSWE Educational Policy Accreditation Standards

--Highly organized and detail oriented

--Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

--Adeptness with academic management and demonstrated competencies including proficiency in the use of technology to support administrative operations and course instruction.

--Knowledge of social service agencies throughout the New York City

--Driver's license and ability to travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Participates in the daily coordination of academic and administrative activities of a College's specialized academic program under management direction.

  • Supports program development, student service delivery, outcome evaluation and instructor/student recruitment, enrollment, and retention.

  • Recommends, implements and evaluates strategies to expand program offerings

  • Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management

  • Develops and maintains relationships with various College offices to improve student and faculty services

  • Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures

  • Oversees office recordkeeping; manages updates of program web and print materials

  • May supervise office operations and/or department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
