The industrial design program at LaGuardia Community College is growing and seeking adjunct industrial design professors with working experience in the fields of technical drawing, perspective drawing, rendering/presentation drawing, craft model-making and digital design techniques in 2-D and 3-D used to develop consumer products. These studio industrial design skills are taught in the early stages of the program in courses such as Technical Drawing, Form & Structure, and Three-Dimensional Design. The program is currently seeking professionally active industrial designers for the Fall 2019 semester with the following responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver lecture and studio assignments to students.

  • Instruct in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules.

  • Develop a studio learning environment which develops students’ 2-D and 3-D design skills while encouraging free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.

  • Providing timely feedback to students’ questions and grading assignments

  • Maintain accurate academic and student attendance records.

  • Participate in curriculum and course development, revision and evaluation.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Adjunct Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor:

Terminal degree or its equivalent in industrial design or a related field.

For Adjunct Lecturer:

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least four years of commercial industrial design experience.

  • Candidates with any college teaching experience are highly desirable.

  • Proven creation of products that reached the marketplace.

  • Desire to mentor exceptional students.

  • Strong skills in traditional perspective drawing, pencil and marker rendering.
