Administrative Coordinator- The office of Secondary Education and Youth Services
The office of Secondary Education and Youth Services (SEYS) is responsible for working with faculty and candidates (i.e., students) in all undergraduate and graduate programs in the Department of Secondary Education on issues related to course registration and monitoring, course scheduling, maintenance of department’s databases, etc.
Reporting directly to the Chair of SEYS , specific duties include but are not limited to:
Creates, manages, and monitors course schedules
Registers and monitors students for courses in electronic database systems (e.g., CUNYfirst, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Course dog, Navigate, teleconferencing and videoconferencing software, electronic calendars)
Creates and manages information in the department’s electronic database system
Assists faculty with travel authorization requests and expense reports
Maintain and update workload information for faculty in electronic database systems
Conducts basic system queries to support department’s activities such as enrollment and graduation
Communicates with faculty and students about basic information about the department’s programs
Maintains the department’s budget and other fiscal plans
Assists with invoicing and handling faculty work-load information
Bachelor's Degree required.
Strong technological skills: Proficiency in a variety of technology platforms/software applications (e.g., CUNYfirst, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Coursedog, Navigate, teleconferencing and videoconferencing software, electronic calendars)
Experience in working in education programs or departments
Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal competence
2years Administrative experience
Knowledge/experience with issues of diversity and inclusion
Experience with project management and juggling multiple projects simultaneously
Experience in planning and coordinating special projects or events that require a high level of detail
Strong time management skills, including ability to prioritize tasks and pursue a results-oriented work process.

Supports projects, initiatives, and activities that impact an academic or administrative department.
Manages basic office functions such as communications, meeting schedules, work plans, staff assignments, and distributing information.
Collects data for, prepares, and distributes reports and presentations using word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
Updates office databases, lists, and files to ensure completeness and accuracy; maintains current information on department web site(s); maintains department archives and collections.
Conducts internet and/or database research and performs basic systems queries to locate information related to department activities.
Maintains department fiscal plans and budgets; assists in budget administration and invoice processing.
Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.
May supervise office staff and student workers.
Performs related duties as assigned.
