FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Business and Economics at York College/CUNY invites applications for a tenure- track Assistant Professor position anticipated to begin Fall 2021 to teach and perform research in the Aviation Management Program. The Department also offers undergraduate, graduate programs and a FAA Dispatcher Certification.

The successful candidate will:

  • Fulfill curriculum development as part of normal workload.

  • Engage in scholarly research and publication, seek outside funding.

  • Carry out any administrative tasks assigned as part of normal workload.

  • Fulfill bargaining unit workload requirements with equivalent administrative work.

  • Serve as a resource for the College by participating in service work related to various committees, professional societies and community organizations.

  • Be available to assist students with course advising, and individual mentoring.

  • Encourage and support student involvement in student organizations and internships

  • Support the diverse curricula by maintaining appropriate qualifications, and proficiencies.

  • Maintain relevant relationships with the aviation industry and community.

Teaching faculty perform teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise and shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum requirement for this position is the PhD degree in a related area from an accredited institution. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

A background in the aviation field in one or more of the following is required: management, airports, operations, finance, supply chain management, safety, security, human factors, or accident investigation.

Candidates should possess significant related work experience and should also be able to show a significant background in professional recognition.
