FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Philosophy at Queens College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the level of Assistant Professor in the field of Aesthetics and/or the Philosophy of Art/Music, to begin in Fall 2023. We seek candidates with a strong scholarly background who are committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and identify with the mission of Queens College and the City University of New York.

The person appointed will teach (i) introductory and advanced courses in Aesthetics and/or Philosophy of Art, including courses co-listed with the School of the Arts, which includes the Aaron Copland School of Music; (ii) elective courses for Philosophy majors and minors; and (iii) general education courses offered by the Department. The teaching load for faculty is 3/3, reduced by 8 courses in the first five years. The Department will consider candidates with any area of teaching competence, but will give preference to those whose strengths complement rather than duplicate current offerings. The successful applicant is expected to maintain an active research agenda and to participate in the department’s advising and service responsibilities.
