The Psychology Department at the City University of New York, Queens College welcomes applications for a Clinical Training Manager for our Master’s and Certificate Programs. The Clinical Training Manager will oversee the placement of students in on-campus clinics run by expert faculty who serve the community in a newer behavior disorders clinic focused on the assessment and treatment of problem behaviors, parent and staff training, continuing education, and programs targeting children with autism and their siblings. We anticipate growth and expansion in our practicum program and the Manager will play an integral role in its management and development.

Reporting to the Chair of the Psychology department, the Clinical Training Manager will be responsible for the following tasks, in addition to the CUNY Title Overview:

  • Manage and monitor clinical practicum experiences

  • Collaborate with faculty on the placement of students on-campus clinics and designated fellowship sites within the Queens College surrounding community

  • Development and maintain written guides and other materials on clinical requirements for candidates, faculty, and other personnel;

  • Advise clinical students of clinical requirements and placement; troubleshoot student issues on a case-by-case basis

  • Serve as a liaison to multiple clinical sites and maintain constant communication with program personnel, students, faculty, and participating facilities to foster strong long-lasting relationships

  • Assess student performance

  • Maintain administrative files and records of clinical experiences, and oversee other projects

  • Some nights and weekend hours required


Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

Preferred qualifications:

(1) Master's degree or higher in psychology or related human services/mental health discipline, (2) Certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BCBA or BCBA-D) and licensed as, or eligible to become, a Licensed Behavior Analyst in New York State, (3) general clinical license or license eligible (licensed clinical psychology, licensed social worker, licensed mental health counselor).


Manages College's academic internship program which provides career development opportunities and professional work experiences for students.

  • Develops and administers a comprehensive internship program based on students' field of study

  • Develops assessment tools to analyze and monitor student career development progress; recommends various enhancements to improve students experiences; and analyzes job market trends to determine solutions in response to market conditions

  • Administers the on-campus recruiting program for internships; initiates and maintains communications with employer sponsors; and schedules student interviews; creates and leads student career workshops

  • Provides faculty development related to internships and tracks credit-bearing internships

  • Collaborates with the other College offices to facilitate student outreach and connection with employers for professional development, internships and job opportunities

  • Cultivates relationships with alumni, faculty, administration and students to improve and increase internship offerings

  • May manage professional and/or clerical staff

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
