POSITION DETAILS

The Division of Marketing and Communications, Department of Web Services at Queensborough Community College welcomes applications for the position of Design Coordinator. Working individually and within a team, the Design Coordinator will assist in the data entry and electronic filing of content design requests received by the departments using our work management and content management systems. The position will report to the Communications Electronic Media Manager.

Reporting to the Communications Electronic Media Manager, in addition to the duties specified in the CUNY Title Overview, the candidate will perform the following:

Assist with the operation of various platforms supported (e.g. HTML/CSS).

Use the campus content management system (Cascade CMS or similar) to enter data for all calendar of event submissions received.

Assist with the creation of content, utilizing the campus work management system (Workfront or similar).

Monitor submitted content processed in both systems.

Guide campus users (faculty & staff) with using the content management system.

Diagnose development issues with content inside the Cascade CMS, review visual content for quality and completeness.

Provide assistance with Workfront to office users.

Understand and make use of ADA strategies to ensure data entered is compliant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards, ADA 508 standards, and QCC web standards.

Assist with the identification, recommendation and prioritization of new web features.

Assist with the development of the long-term plan for web multimedia strategies including standards and guidelines for content, based on organizational goals and enrollment initiatives.

Ensure time sensitive and other emergency notification messaging is posted to the website and other digital platforms as needed.

Evening and weekend hours may be required as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in interaction design, new media design or related multimedia field.

Experience working with content management systems in a complex organization.

Experience with progressive web design, implementation and visual development

Experience in higher education preferred

Supports the creation and maintenance of multimedia communications.

  • Collaborates with internal and external personnel to develop multimedia concepts to communicate key messages

  • Creates content utilizing one or more types of media (e.g., photography, video, audio, and web technologies)

  • Coordinates pre-production, production and post-production activities

  • Designs, edits, and uploads content to internal and external sites and programs

  • Maintains archives, materials, and project documentation

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
