POSITION DETAILS

Queens College of the City University of New York is seeking a creative and innovative Dean of Institutional Effectiveness. Often referred to as "the jewel of the CUNY system", Queens College sits on 80-acres of land and is a place of contrast: an urban school in a suburban setting. A minority serving institution, Queens College enrolls 20,000 highly diverse undergraduate and graduate students who participate in liberal arts, science, and pre-professional programs delivered by a faculty and staff dedicated to student success.

With a mission to prepare students to become leading citizens of an increasingly global society, we offer a rigorous education in the liberal arts and sciences under the guidance of a faculty dedicated to both teaching and research. Our liberal arts, science and pre-professional programs earn us high rankings in prestigious college guides such as The Princeton Review America's Best Value colleges. We strive to graduate a diverse urban student population with the ability to think critically, address complex problems, explore various cultures, use modern technologies and information resources, and have won prominence in nearly every field.

Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean of Institutional Effectiveness provides innovative and professional leadership in the planning, development, promotion, and implementation of an integrated institutional effectiveness system aimed at refining programs and services. He/she works across the College with vice presidents, deans, program directors and faculty to ensure the implementation of a comprehensive program of assessment designed to meet the continuous improvement goals of the College and the standards of relevant accreditation agencies. The Dean engages in a broad range of research and reporting activities, including oversight of routine and Ad Hoc data collection, data analysis, and reporting for both internal and external audiences. He/she will have oversight responsibility for the College's programmatic accreditation process. The Dean will oversee the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.

The candidate will demonstrate significant familiarity and accomplishment with strategic planning, including plan implementation and evaluation of programs that effectively promote student retention and success. The Dean will have knowledge that includes methodologies of evaluation, assessment, survey research, statistics, and data analysis. Expertise with assessment tools and techniques, survey research methods, statistical and database management software packages, and the dynamics of strategic planning and accreditation is required. Proven understanding of innovative techniques of data management and analysis across a complex organization and success bringing innovative pilot projects to scale are crucial. Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills and the ability to work with complex computer information systems are essential.
