Reporting directly to the Assistant Bursar, the Bursar Coordinator in large will be responsible for the processing of Student Financial Aid documents and functions within the unit. The mission of the Bursar Office is to provide accurate and timely financial information to both the campus community and its external constituents. By maintaining the integrity of student financial records and providing exceptional customer service, the Bursar Office strives to support Queens College’s students in meeting their financial obligations as they pursue their studies.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, the Bursar Coordinator will be responsible for:
• Reviewing student accounts to determine and approve eligible financial aid and campus refund amounts
• Coordinating with the Office of Financial Aid Office on several key functions such as resolving refund stops, and the disbursement and adjustments of student financial aid award packages
• Updating student accounts for R2T4 (Return of Financial Aid) , ensuring that all students are billed accordingly and following up to ensure that these balances are collected in a timely fashion
• Assisting with the review and processing of a weekly Financial Aid Disbursement error report and Financial Aid Refund file batch report.
• Responding to students on Financial Aid that includes Federal and State Financial Aid disbursements and R2T4 adjustments.
• Assisting the Assistant Bursar to gather supporting documentation for the University's internal auditors, independent and state auditors as it pertains to Financial Aid payments, refunds and adjustments and R2T4
• Assisting with the preparation of reports, spreadsheets, and other data as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) years of Higher Education experience .
Accounting Degree is a plus.
PeopleSoft experience specifically working within the Student Financials module.
Proficient knowledge of MS Office Products such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
Customer service experience.
Excellent oral, writing, analytical, organizational and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple priorities and deadlines.
Ability to be proactive, resourceful, and self-motivated, possessing strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Availability to work during extended business hours, which consist of two evenings a week, from 5:00pm-7:30pm. Additional extended days during peak periods.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Provides operational support for a College student accounts function.
Performs processing, collection, reconciliation and maintenance of student receivables
Counsels students in meeting college financial obligations including current tuition, prior receivables and methods of payment; responds to student account inquiries
Maintains revenue files; prepares reports as required
Assists in the review of student accounts; identifies and reports delinquent accounts
May assist in the evaluation and verification of student eligibility for various loans and grants
Provides support to ensure the smooth flow of business operations and completion of required administrative tasks within the office; may supervise clerical and/or part-time staff
Performs related duties as assigned.
