York College, founded in 1967, is a center of academic excellence in the heart of Jamaica, Queens. York’s academic programs are housed in three schools: The School of Arts & Sciences, The School of Business and Information Systems, and The School of Health Sciences and Professional Studies. Over sixty baccalaureate programs from across a variety of disciplines, including accounting, aviation management, business, computer science, journalism, social work, teacher education, a dual BS/MS degree in Occupational Therapy, and one of the top-ranked nursing programs in New York State, provide students with opportunities to study liberal arts, sciences, and professional programs. The college also offers five graduate programs: Aviation Management, Clinical Trials Management, Pharmaceutical Science and Business, Physician Assistant, and Social Work.

Located in Queens, the most ethnically diverse county in New York State, the college enrolls 7,000 students from over 95 nations. Nine out of ten students are members of a racial/ethnic minority group, and more than half of undergraduates are the first in their families to pursue higher education.

The 50-acre campus encompasses seven buildings, including science and computer labs, music and television studios, a Performing Arts Center, and a Physical Education Center. It recently completed seven major constructions projects, with more scheduled for the future. In addition, its neighborhood is at the center of a renaissance fueled by economic revitalization.

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning (OIESP) at York College is charged with leading, coordinating, and supporting initiatives and projects related to strategic planning, assessment, and institutional reporting. OIESP is currently being restructured to provide the College with greater support in the areas of research and assessment. Taking a more proactive approach, the Office is identifying a research agenda that has student success at its core. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning, the Manager of Institutional Research manages the College’s institutional effectiveness activities. The Manager oversees all assessment activities on campus, and serves as a data resource to the college community, and to provide guidance and support to the institution by collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting data essential to informing planning, policy development, and strategic decision-making with an emphasis on student success.

In addition to the CUNY Title Overview/General Duties, additional duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage and direct the design, prioritization, and implementation of institutional research activities, including collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting information on the characteristics of the institution for use in decision-making, strategic planning, and reporting as appropriate within the institution.

  • Maintains the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning database.

  • Designs, develops, implements, and supports data dashboards and reports.

  • Creates the College’s annual Factbook.

  • Ensures dissemination of annual Academic Program Summary data to departments.

  • Oversees or assists in the administration, and analysis of surveys of various constituencies at York College.

  • Responds to ad hoc requests; assisting individual divisions and offices in identifying, collecting, maintaining, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data in response to ongoing compliance needs.

  • Collaborates with other members of the team, designs and completes research using institutional data to evaluate programs, assessing needs, supporting strategic planning, and providing analytical guidance where necessary.

  • Provides relevant, timely, and accurate institutional information to administrators, the college community, the external community, and external agencies.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

  • The following qualifications are preferred:

  • Experience with statistical analysis and interpretation.

  • Experience with data extraction, manipulation, and visualization.

  • Experience with SPSS or similar software for descriptive and inferential statistical analysis.

  • Experience with business intelligence, reporting tools, and relational databases.

  • Develops relevant, timely and accurate institutional information to administrators, the college community, the external community, and external agencies.

  • Defines and implements research studies, designing and conducting data analyses and analyzing and interpreting results.

  • Researches, develops and recommends policy analyses relevant to anticipated institutional planning, policy, and decision-making needs.

  • Participates in college-wide strategic planning, institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment tasks.

  • Respond to data, table and report requests from college constituencies.

  • Manage surveys, questionnaires and other data-gathering instruments administered by the Office.

  • Manages a library of institutional planning and research documents.

  • May consult with faculty and students in the design of databases for research projects

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.

The salary range for this appointment is $82,928 - $93,491
