IT Academic Technology Specialist (HEOa) - Career Services: York College/CUNY
The IT Academic Technology Specialist reporting to the Director of Career Services, is primarily responsible for developing and overseeing various functions of our online management system (Symplicity), the office's primary information and tracking system. They will investigate modules offered in system to best track and develop a plan to maximum usage and a comprehensive gathering and analysis of program data to track student progress as well as interpret and meet our goals as part of the college’s strategic plan.
In addition, one of the key responsibilities for this position is to collaborate with the Lead Career Services Manager, to effectively develop, manage, and implement college level academic and experiential learning programs; internships, mentoring, and other professional programs that partner with select academic departments and their learning outcomes. They will review and research business information to ensure employers are credible and remain in compliance with NACE policies.
In addition, they will help students in their process of career exploration. This includes collaborating with the lead staff responsible for managing and implementing the experiential/internship learning programs. Work with other staff to assist students with using online tools that will assess their career interest, providing job information related careers and industries of interest. Working with their colleagues, they will assist with the planning of the annual career related workshops and special career and network events and providing the follow-up, support and customer service required to build lasting partnerships with these employers.
Job duties include:
• Helping students to navigate and access support services
• Maintaining student internship and job data in Symplicity in real time
• Creating and leading student workshops that promote job-readiness
• Miscellaneous projects including entering student hiring data in Symplicity
• Contribute towards the annual report by providing year-over-year figures for approved career portal opportunities and employer registrations
• Compose charts showing month-over-month figures for approved jobs and internships
Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.

Assists in demonstrating the practical application of computers and communications technology for classes and workshops for faculty or students
May track problem reports, troubleshoot reported issues, and document resolutions
Performs related duties as assigned.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.
If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.
Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
The salary range for this appointment is $68,004 - $79,188
