GENERAL DUTIES
I.T. Associates perform moderately complex professional work in technology-related disciplines. While areas of specialization vary, typically I.T. Associates work in areas such as development/programming, communications, technical support, or similar functions depending on the needs of the Information Technology area to which they report. Work tasks include resolving complex technology problems and serving as a technical resource. They have considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgment and may have supervisory responsibilities.
I.T. Associates should demonstrate mastery of one or more technology-related disciplines.

CUNY School of Law is the nation’s leading public interest law school, with a two-fold mission to train lawyers to serve historically underrepresented communities and diversify the legal profession. Our motto, “law in the service of human needs,” is reflected in all aspects of our work. The school seeks to hire an IT Associate Level 3. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Information Technology Associate is primarily responsible for managing and performing expert-level technical work related to the installation, maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, and upgrade of server, desktop, and laptop computer systems at the CUNY School of Law. The IT Associate's duties will include the following:
Resolve complex problems with little to no supervision for applicable server OS platforms including Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and higher and Linux distributions such as Debian, Ubuntu and Rocky. Desktop OS platforms include Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 and Apple macOS 12 through 15. This work includes maintenance, upgrading and backing up of such systems.
Provide support for applications running on those platforms. Printing platforms include Hewlett-Packard workgroup printers and the PaperCut print metering system running on Konica-Minolta and Xerox multifunction devices. This function includes maintenance on and some data reporting via the Xerox Device Manager system.
Administer VMWare virtual server infrastructure in order to support hosts running the above server operating systems.
Perform administration tasks on Microsoft Active Directory, including user/group creation and permissions management as well as group policy work.
Maintain, upgrade, and administer Examsoft Examplify electronic exam administration system. Create exam environments as needed for School testing. Provide training and support to users as needed.
Maintain Titanium case management system and servers it resides on. Perform troubleshooting with end users as needed.
Manage DHCP services, including maintenance of lease reservations.
Maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade Deep Freeze server and student-use computers integrated with it.
Create and configure e-mail accounts for end users (primarily on Microsoft e-mail systems); administer mailing lists.
Act as Blackboard and Dropbox administrator for the School; maintain data files, monitor system configuration, and act as a technical resource for the School’s usage of the system. Interface with the Central Office as needed to resolve issues.
Plan and create images for the aforementioned Mac and Windows operating systems and appropriate software application suites used at the School.
As needed, provide Zoom, telephone, or deskside technical support to faculty, staff, and students; utilize and maintain problem tracking system as well as asset inventory database.
Provide effective application-specific usage support to end users in a timely manner.
Implement third-party software to be used by user community; interact with vendors for deployment and maintenance as needed.
Help resolve issues related to telephones and voicemail functions. Resolve voice and data wiring-related issues; repair or replace wiring, jacks, and/or connectors as necessary.
Plan, analyze and acquire new hardware and software for use in implementing school-wide technology systems, as well as other enterprise-level special technical projects.
Conduct training/IT Orientation for the user community.
Maintain job-related records and documentation as necessary and prepare reports as needed.
Supervise other IT personnel as needed.
Stay abreast of computer technology beneficial to the School of Law; recommend and implement new services and technologies, including new hardware and software releases and upgrades; research and test hardware and software to maintain or enhance user services; recommend the purchase of such materials.
Evenings or weekends may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
An equivalent of seven years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: seven years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus five years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus three years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
Demonstrated English Language proficiency
A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This job has three levels. To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
COMPENSATION
$89,639
