FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Engineering Technology Department at Queensborough Community College invites applications for the position of Faculty Lecturer in Internet and Information Technology and/or Computer Science and Information Security. The Faculty Lecturer will perform teaching and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise as noted below and will share responsibilities for committee and department assignments, performing administrative, supervisory, and other functions as assigned.

As a community college in the CUNY system, Queensborough offers a wide variety of courses for university transfer, general education, preparation for careers, and enrichment. Contractual teaching load at QCC is 24 contact hours for the academic year (typically 4 course sections a semester) plus 3 office hours outside the classroom for ensuring student’s success during the academic year, summer classes optional. Candidate will teach courses in Internet and Information Technology and/or Computer Science and Information Security. They will participate in departmental and college activities including committees, course and program assessment, curriculum development and preparation of grants, and provide academic support and advisement for students. Some evening or weekend teaching may be required. Position to start in the Fall 2022 semester.

The Engineering Technology Department offers Associate Degree programs in Electronics Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Telecommunications Technology, Internet and Information Technology, Engineering Science, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology and Computer Science & Information Security. The ET, CT and MT program are ABET accredited. The department's facilities include 15 laboratories all of which contain state-of-the-art, well maintained equipment. The department provides opportunities for faculty pedagogical and disciplinary research as well as course development. For more information, please see the department's website at

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in area(s) of related expertise,plus relevant industry experience and other qualifications noted below as being necessary for satisfactory performance of job duties. Prior teaching experience in an undergraduate academic setting, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Strong preference for candidates with a computer programming specialization in Full-Stack Web Development with a background in areas such as Computer Science, InfoSec, ITOps or DevOps.

Preferred Qualifications include:

1) Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, and/or equivalent job experience in a related field.

2) College level teaching experience in computer programming and information technologies, with a preference for community college teaching.

3) Experience in computer programming of client and server-side JavaScript, Java, JS frameworks, libraries and associated front/back-end technologies; object-oriented programing, functional programming, algorithms, data structures, and scripting in C++, Java, Python, and other popular languages.

4) Experience in areas such as LAN/WAN/Linux administration and security, Virtualization, Cloud Computing, Auditing and Risk Management, Threat Analysis, Ethical Hacking or Computer Forensics.

5) Industry certified by major vendors in areas such as Info Sec, Cloud or Networking.
