FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Health, Physical Education and Dance at Queensborough Community College of the City University of New York provides rigorous academic programs in Nutrition, Public Health, Movement Science, Dance, Massage Therapy and Emergency Medical Technician. Our programs prepare students for further studies at the baccalaureate level and for careers in their respective field. The Department is seeking applications from accomplished lecturers in Health Education to provide excellence in teaching, and service to the Department and College. As a community college in the CUNY system, our diverse student population primarily takes general education and lower division courses for university transfer. The teaching workload will not exceed 24 hours for the academic year. The selected candidates will teach health education and interdisciplinary courses for programs in Nutrition, Public Health, Movement Science and general education. Participate in Departmental and College activities including committees, course and program assessment, and curriculum development. Provide academic support and advisement for students. Some evening or weekend teaching may be required. Position to start in Fall 2022.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Performs teaching and related faculty functions in area(s) of expertise
Serves in department and college assessment
Mentors department student majors
Supports efforts to facilitate department-sponsored health lecture series
Supports efforts to promote student recruitment and retention
Actively participates in ongoing department and college committees, events and activities
Available to teach night and weekend hours as neededCandidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.All CUNY employees must reside within a commutable distance to the tri-state area.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
Preferred Qualifications:
A master’s level or doctoral level degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Health Education or related field
Credentialed as an RD, MPH, DrPH, CHES/MCHES and/or other healthcare license or certification
Experience teaching undergraduate Health Education courses (at least 2 years), preferably at the community college level
Experience working in diverse communities and/or with diverse students
Demonstrated use of technology for online and in-person teaching and learning environments
Demonstrated use of a diverse range of effective instructional strategies
Ability to work collaboratively
Effective written and oral communication skills

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
