York College of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks applicants for a full-time lecturer (non-tenure) position in the Department of Nursing. The anticipated start date is Fall 2021.
York College is a senior college of CUNY, located in Queens, NY, the most ethnically diverse borough of NYC. The Department of Nursing is searching for highly qualified applicants for a Lecturer position who will teach, conduct simulation, manage practice labs and simulation lab experiences, and manage practicum rotations in the Generic and RN-BS Registered Nursing Programs. Successful candidates will teach across both curricula and serve on various Departmental, Divisional, and College initiatives; participate in academic advisement and contribute to new program development; engage in professional development and other activities that advance the nursing discipline.
The successful candidate will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions and must be available to teach evenings and weekends.
For appointment as a Lecturer in Nursing at York, the qualifications noted here will be greatly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate satisfactory qualities of personality and character, a record of achievements in his/her profession or field of expertise, and a willingness to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. RN License (New York State) required. Also required are the ability to teach successfully at the clinical and post-secondary level, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Preferred candidates will hold a Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution. A Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) or Doctorate in Philosophy (PhD) is highly preferred. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner and Certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator are strongly preferred. The candidate must also have experience in the instruction of psychomotor laboratory skills as well as low and high-fidelity simulation lab skills. The candidate will share responsibility for committee and department assignments.
The Ph.D. in nursing or equivalent; two years or more of teaching in at least one nursing specialty; five years’ clinical experience in nursing; and Certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator are all very strongly preferred. Familiarity with use of Microsoft Office 365, Blackboard, and computer programs preferred.
The minimum qualification for the Lecturer rank is the Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully.
