The Elementary and Early Childhood Education Department at Queens College invites applications for a certificate of continuing employment-eligible lecturer vacancy in Literacy and/or Foundations of Education to begin August 2022. Priority will be given to candidates with a record of teaching undergraduate, transfer, and teacher education students. The successful candidate will teach primarily undergraduate courses to preservice teachers with a focus on culturally responsive and anti-bias, anti-racist principles. Also, the candidate will collaborate with faculty and students across the entire School of Education, particularly in literacy and a foundational area. Furthermore, the successful candidate shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

Rank of a Lecturer: Bachelor's degree in area(s) of expertise, and the ability to teach successfully is required.


(1) Eligible candidates will have earned a Masters in Literacy, Foundations of Education, or a related field by August 2022.

(2) Three or more years of professional experience in school settings.

(3) Evidence of excellence in community college and/or college teaching.

(4) Evidence of experience with curriculum development, and effective interactions and collaborations with students, faculty, and staff.

(5) Evidence of commitment to one’s professional development in teaching and learning.

(6) The successful candidate will have clear ideas for cultivating a culturally responsive learning environment within diverse groups of students and will be aware of the unique assets and challenges of an urban teaching and learning environment. This includes, but is not limited to, diversity in race/ethnicity, socioeconomic status, familial education background, permanent residence (e.g., international, domestic, local), and career trajectories.

Rank of a Lecturer on a Doctoral Schedule: In addition to the above, a Ph.D. in Literacy, Foundations of Education, or a related field by August 2022.


Salaries are commensurate with education and experience, and are subject to the Professional Staff Congress-CUNY salary schedule: Salary range: $63,133-$75,967.
