Queensborough Community College’s Office of Continuing Education & Workforce Development (CEWD) is seeking an experienced, dynamic and results-oriented temporary, full-time Program Coordinator for its latest Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) Program.

Certified Recovery Peer Advocates (CRPA’s) are individuals with lived experience who have been certified to provide coaching, support, information, guidance, and motivation to those seeking or sustaining recovery from a substance use diagnosis. QCC has trained nearly 100 students in our first five cohorts, making us the first educational institution to offer a comprehensive CRPA program to qualified New York City candidates. Our ground-breaking Educational and Career Readiness CRPA program includes the non-credit CRPA workshop and a three-credit complementary Public Health course in Addictions and Dependencies, which ensure our students learn successful knowledge and practice as they pursue their CRPA certifications. Other unique elements of our CRPA program model include wraparound services, including an CRPA-certified Instructor, Case Manager, Job Developer/Career Counselor and a Computer Technology Instructor to ensure that students have job-ready technology skills to be successful in a CRPA position in today’s job market. Additionally, QCC is committed to job placement for students who have successfully completed the CRPA program.

This individual has day-to-day responsibilities for program operations and maintains continuous communications with students, instructors, employers, program partners and other internal and external stakeholders. The Project Coordinator reports primarily to the Dean of Continuing Education and Workforce Development and works closely with the Continuing Education Director of Labor Market Research & Workforce Development.

Primary responsibilities include:

-Provide day-to-day administrative and operational support to ensure that the program runs smoothly, efficiently, and effectively;

-Coordinate the successful implementation of QCC’s marketing, recruitment and selection plan of new CRPA students;

-Conduct online Information and Recruitment Webinars for potential CRPA students;

-Serve as the primary point of contact for all interested program applicants. Conduct pre-screening and assessment activities;

-Communicate and collaborate daily with CRPA Program instructors and staff to ensure that the CRPA program is achieving key milestones and outcomes;

-Prepare, modify and maintain important shared documents (including data spreadsheets, reports, logs, reports, and memos);

-Perform general administrative/clerical duties, including data entry, record-keeping, document collection, and maintenance of electronic databases;

-Handle requests for information and data, both internal and external;

  • Work directly with potential employers to develop career pathways for CRPA students;

-Conduct Pre-Training (Vestibule) sessions;

-Provide advisement services in support of student persistence outcomes;

-Manage CRPA students' CRPA Certification processes and liaise with external agencies and organizations to achieve certification goals;

-Ensure that all students have updated, occupation aligned resumes;

-The ability to work in online working environment is required.


Bachelor's Degree required.


Experience coordinating projects in a professional environment; higher education work experience is a plus;

Experience working with Workforce Development programs, recruiting and coordinating student services and directly contributing to student program completion and success;

Knowledge of and experience with CRPA or CRPA-related programs a plus;

Experience coordinating projects with multiple stakeholders;

Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a collaborative and solutions-oriented workstyle;

Must demonstrate an ability to manage timelines/deadlines successfully and to achieve key targets and milestones;

Able to work independently and efficiently, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and work within a team environment;

Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and work with Google Drive;

Must be committed to supporting the goals and outcomes of the CRPA program and to serving the needs of the CRPA student population.


Provides basic operational and analytical support related to a College's specialized academic program.

  • Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration

  • Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities

  • Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students

  • Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards

  • Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures

  • May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget

  • Performs related duties as assigned.
