POSITION DETAILS

Reporting to the Director of the Center for Career Engagement and Internships, the Associate Director of Employer Engagement is responsible for guiding students and alumni in the preparation of credentials and related material for internship/job search activities. Duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and promote Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) recruitment programming on campus.

  • Maintain and track data on students' internships, jobs, surveys, and post-graduate outcomes.

  • Manage the QC internship stipend program.

  • Alongside the Director, manage funds and programing budget.

  • Seek external funding through grants, donations and other methods for workforce development initiatives.

  • Coach and support Queens College students and recent alumni on career goals and pathways.

  • Work alongside past and present students to implement career goals, revise and edit resumes, identify internships and jobs, prepare for interviews and develop career readiness skills.

  • Develop and maintain internal and external relationships in an effort to increase QC’s employer partners and engagement.

  • Plan and organize career fairs, workshops, trainings, company visits, and networking events to increase QC’s Job market exposure.

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, student clubs, employers, and professional associations to facilitate students’ career preparation and opportunities.

  • Represent the College at regional and local professional meetings and conferences.

  • Supervise and train full-time and part-time staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in higher education, psychology, human resources, business, or related field.

  • Experience working in career center or employer recruitment or employee development.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience.

  • Experience using data management platforms such as Symplicity, Handshake, EAB Navigate or Salesforce

Develops and manages career development programs and services in a College of Unit and assumes a leadership role in the design and delivery of creative approaches to career education and planning.

  • Assists in unit planning, such as setting goals and objectives, and monitors status of progress toward meeting goals

  • Designs and produces outcomes assessment reports; reviews outcomes and feedback and recommends strategies to expand and improve services.

  • Directs a portfolio of targeted career programs, such as mentoring, internship, and alumni programs

  • Manages one or more aspects of career office operations, such as on-campus recruiting

  • Evaluates new technologies, assessment materials, and other career tools, makes recommendations, and acquires/implements them

  • May counsel a limited number of students

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$85,000- $90,000

Health Plan Coverage for Employees Hired on or after October 1, 2022 -- City of New York employees and employees of Participating Employers and their eligible dependents hired on or after October 1, 2022 will only be eligible to enroll in the EmblemHealth HIP HMO Preferred Plan and must remain in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan for the first year (365 days) of employment.

After 365 days of employment, the employee will have the option of either remaining in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan or selecting a different health plan within 30 days before the end of the 365th day period.

If a new health plan is selected, the new plan will be effective on the 366th day.

Only after the 365th day can the employee participate in any Annual Fall Transfer Period. An employee who needs to request an exemption from the required enrollment in the HIP HMO Preferred Plan can do so by submitting a HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form to EmblemHealth. An employee, or eligible dependent, must meet certain criteria and the request must be approved by EmblemHealth before the exemption is granted. The HIP HMO Opt-Out Request Form and HIP service area are available on the EmblemHealth website.
